According to the Choice study, Bunnings, Kmart, and The Good Guys have been utilising facial recognition technology to combat in-store theft.

The consumer organisation said it investigated the privacy policies of 25 of Australia's major shops to see if they were employing facial recognition technology.

According to the study, the three looked to be the only retailers using the technology within the group.
