Severe production issues in the Chinese supply chains and the defect rates have forced Apple to shift its supply chain to Taiwan as it ramps up the production of iPhone 11 and gears up for phones that are technically capable and competent to deal with the latest 5G technology that is upcoming in the market. Taiwan has had the sophistication of manufacturing processes in the field of electronics manufacturing with China flooded with chipsets manufactured in Taiwan, and the same is being used by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in their missiles directed towards Taipei a report from the US has said.
The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) supply chain in china had been giving low yield rates (high defect rates) for some time now and since the launch of the iPhone 11 and the huge market response that it has got, the company was in no way interested in taking the risk further to let it affect its brand value and quality, and thus the company decided to shift its manufacturing orders to Taiwan, a statement said.
The Chinese government policies to ramp up its manufacturing sector has in the past years robbed the Taiwanese industry of their global orders as the policies adopted by the Chinese government are designed in such a way to eliminate the competitive spirit of the market and use it to create a monopoly in the trade. The US-China trade war is also seen as one of the reasons for this shift due to higher tariffs on Chinese imports in the US had several lead companies to bleed a lot of cash, and that isn’t good for any business model to sustain.
