- Two Australian columnists were hurried out of China in a short span after Chinese police inquired them, their managers said Tuesday.
Australian Financial Review reporter Michael Smith took this action after China confined a prominent Australian columnist working for its state-run CGTN TV organization. Also, Bill Birtles from Australian Broadcasting Corporation accompanied him.
