According to a recent study that was published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics, pregnant women who were exposed to numerous phthalates (pronounce thal-ates) have a higher chance of giving birth prematurely.

Phthalates can also be found in food packaging, detergents, furniture, flooring, textiles, paints, rubber, coating materials, and medical devices in addition to hiding in plastics and personal care products.
