Human Rights Watch stated today that the Australian government should ban the use of chemical restraints in nursing homes to regulate the conduct of elderly persons with dementia. The Royal Commission on Aged Care Quality and Safety delivered its final report one year ago, in March 2021, advocating for immediate measures to safeguard older people from excessive chemical restraint.
