Despite protests, Nepal's parliament approves a disputed US assistance agreement

Despite popular demonstrations and resistance from the Communist parties, Nepal's parliament has accepted a disputed $500 million US handout.

Nepal signed the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) deal with the US government in 2017 to fund infrastructure projects, but it has yet to be ratified due to disputes between political parties, along with the ruling coalition.
