DRDO TESTS NEW AIR INDEPENDENT PROPULSION SYSTEM

HIGHLIGHTS

• DRDO has tested new AIP System.
• The new AIP system is expected to be ready for use from 2024-25 onwards.
• Plan is to retrofit into six Scorpene submarines.
• The submarines are being built under Project 75.
• The six Project-75I submarines are expected be powered by AIP systems coming from foreign vendor.
