With Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) joining hands with smaller start-ups to create new technological arenas for the drone manufacturing in the country not much could go wrong, except the technical barriers that it hits will not be helped on by the partnering countries in defense and research and who have a collaboration with India for the development of such technologies.
Make in India was a dream that after Prime Minister Modi came into power ordered the bureaucracy to build, with him acting as the face of the country globally since the first time he got elected it has been a smooth ride when it comes to international co-operation and supporting the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) which India had coined after its independence as it didn’t want to get stuck between two of the world’s most powerful countries US & Russia and lose the opportunities one has to offer over the other. Indigenous development of technology has always been a tough ask, but India has done it in the past with its nuclear technology and now the drone manufacturing technology. We already have the Rustom I & II that the Indian army and other branches of defense used to have ariel surveillance and recce missions, but the hand-launched drones of various dimensions and parameters are still a far-fetched target, this collaboration between PSU’s and private sector will enable to bridge the efficiency gap and the technological gap that the current scenario possesses and help India get into the bus of efficient drone technologically advanced countries.
