Visiting a doctor is like a storytelling adventure when the doctor asks you a very important question of what has happened and why are you here, that is where the medical industry starts, from storytelling the aspect that has never even been noticed by the majority of us and is just noticing of it as we speak.
Storytelling has been a crucial part of our evolution cycle, and we have learned to communicate better by telling all these stories about our experiences, and in the medical world and in regard to health care, storytelling has been employed in certain areas with some success from learning the patient’s point of view to ensuring their safety. One of the major areas of impact is in the realm of patient safety that is being explored as we go along the treatment process when a patient comes to the doctor or the physician who will be treating them. Having patients and families tell their stories of preventable harm events has shone a spotlight on the process issues that exist that may result in injury and this has been somewhat seen as a problem in the medical industry because where there is an empathic bond between the patient and the doctor treating there is a risk of error as the accountability for actions just goes up ten times due to that emphatic bond that just got built between the patient and the doctor.
This issue is not only prevalent in the United States medical world but is common to all of the world.
