FALLING BIRTH RATE OF CHINA: A CAUSE OF CONCERN FOR ITS ECONOMY

On Friday, the National Bureau of Statistics of China revealed the birth rate figures. Last year, 10.48 births per 1,000 people was recorded. People's Republic of China was founded in 1949. It was the lowest birth rate since then. The year before, the number was 10.94. In 2019, the number of births fell by about 580,000 to 14.65 million.
