On Monday, FIFA announced the signing of a partnership with blockchain technology startup Algorand, the first new American sponsor of the men's World Cup in 11 years.
According to FIFA, the agreement also includes a "technical cooperation" to aid in the development of a digital assets strategy. It could let FIFA market non-fungible tokens related to soccer (NFTs).
