The biotechnology sector is being researched in almost every single corner of the world to make a major breakthrough for the bio-industry which has not seen anything significant being happened or being created. The Australian biotech scene is here and it is advanced already.
The science of genome removal promised to make tampering through biology as cool as rephrasing a piece of computer code, DIY types have argued that this cutting-edge medical science should be available to anyone who wants an alternative to exorbitant drug prices to their own benefit or to modify or enhance their own biology using technology and coding. At conferences and on social networks such as Facebook, these self-styled biohackers have shown a flair for the dramatic and a proof of stupidity. Another dosed himself with untested gene therapy at a conference called BodyHacking Con in an attempt to cure herpes which surely resulted in bad consequences. One man’s DIY effort to cure his HIV resulted in a bad reaction on his midsection and caused some serious damage, where he stuck the needle.
In July, California passed legislation intended to discourage DIY gene editing as it is causing a lot of trouble, and state regulators have also said they were investigating one biohacker for practicing medicine without a license. Some of the self-taught scientists aka biohackers say that the window to beat the establishment has closed, and now it’s time to join ’em. Gabriel Licina, a chef who once developed his own night vision eyedrops, summed up the mood from the podium at the annual Biohack the Planet conference last month stated that people should grow up and take responsibility and stop stabbing themselves.
