In 1893, in the coastal town of Toba, Mie Prefecture, Japanese entrepreneur Kokichi Mikimoto succeeded in creating the world's first cultivated pearls. Today steps away from the island where Mikimoto developed the pearls, Toba plans to launch a new industry: flying taxis to settlements offshore.
