Virgil Abloh, Artistic Director for Men’s wear at Louis Vuitton and his design team have come up with a new super special edition of bestselling hi-top sneakers. Abloh’s bestsellers boast of a classic, sleek design. It was first shown in Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring/Summer 2019 show.
The same design is now coming back to take over 9 cities just for this holiday season. Each edition is dedicated to one city and will have colorful laces and matching tags. The limited-edition LV hi-tops will also have a black leather base with a Louis Vuitton monogram flowers embossed in the midsole.
Each shoe will be made up of tiny detailing and more than 100 pieces crafting it. The black leather sneakers will have gray leather and suede paneling. The sole will consist 20 pieces and the upper shoe will be made with 106 pieces and detailing. A monogram tag will be hanging from the ankle strap and will match the color of the laces. Number 408, refers to the founder Louis Vuitton’s birthday, will also be embossed on the side. The tongue of the shoe will carry an LVM (Louis Vuitton Malletier) stamp.
Abloh’s city Chicago will get the color neon orange, and bright blue will be only available in New York City. Milan, Paris, and London will have hot pink, baby blue, and yellow laces respectively. Dubai is allocated with a forest green color, while Shanghai, Tokyo, and Seoul will have turquoise, deep purple, and rusty red colors.
The American designer also is a founder of the Off-White brand, which has its headquarters in Milan, Italy. He was appointed Menswear Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton in March 2018.
