• UK shops are accountable for 58 billion pieces of plastic a year.
• The primary trial offered 44 plastic packaging-free products.
• It has committed to announcing additional lines of loose food and other substitutes to plastic across its UK stores.

The trial will be prolonged at its Hedge End store in Southampton and will be launched in Manchester this month.
