At least 162 people were killed as an earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Java on Monday, with vibrations felt in the capital Jakarta, according to the governor of the island.
According to the US Geological Survey, the magnitude 5.6 quake happened in the afternoon near the Cianjur district of West Java province, some 75 kilometers (47 miles) south of the capital.
