Portugal's Socialist Government presents the plan without its left support

The Portuguese Socialist Government has succeeded in bringing forward the 2020 budgets but without the support of its long-term left allies, the Bloco de Esquerda (BE) and the Communist Party (PCP). Nonetheless, abstention from those parties has required approval of the accounts.

"These are the strongest budgets since we came to power in 2015," declared in parliament the Prime Minister, António Costa.
