Google is known for its open corporate culture and workers always say that they are blessed to be a part of such an employee friendly organization. This always sounded true until recent ‘Brute Force Intimidation’ came up. On Friday, at 11 am, around 200 workers gathered outside Google’s San Francisco’s office for a protest. The ‘chain of event’ was that Google decided to put two of its workers on leave and other workers gathered for the protest. The decision was tagged as ‘Brute Force Intimidation’ by workers. Workers said that Google is trying to control internal activities. They are also trying to show their disagreement about the company’s association with military and many controversial customers.
Zora Tung, a software engineer, an employee of Google explained - "Over the past two years, many of my coworkers have asked the company to take meaningful action to curtail sexual harassment and systemic racism, improve the working conditions of temps, vendors and contractors, and divest from harmful tech. Instead of listening to us, the company has chosen to silence us".
As per workers, the software giant has done injustice to two of its employees – Rebecca Rivers and Laurence Berland. The company had wrongly put both the employees on indefinite leave without any prior warning. Google took the step for violating policies of the company, as reported by Bloomberg News.
