Even after eleven years, the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai resonate several emotions, images and memories. The internet is brimming with tributes to the martyrs who fought with valour against terrorism. The names of the bravehearts have been permanently seared into memories.
Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Sub-Inspector Tukaram Omble, Mumbai Anti Terrorist Squad Chief Hemant Karkare, Havaldar Gajendra Singh and Inspector Vijay Salaskar, were killed. Furthermore, the attack killed 166 more and injured over 300.
One of the most brutal attacks in the history took place on November 26, 2008. It lasted four days, beginning on November 26. A group of 10 terrorists attacked five major commercial locations of the capital city. These included Oberoi-Trident Hotel and Taj Mahal Palace, Tower Hotel, a Jewish cultural centre - Chabad House at Nariman Point, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, Leopold Cafe, and Cama Hospital were among the targets.
The terrorists arrived in Mumbai from Karachi, Pakistan allegedly by a fishing trawler. Nine terrorists were killed during the combat whereas Mohammed Ajmal Kasab was arrested and executed in November 2012.
The internet was stormed by messages. Many, including famous personalities and celebrities took to Twitter to pay tribute to martyred soldiers of the countries and to their families.
