Renowned Saudi Arabian artist, Lulwah Al-Homound, works between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
Lulwah Al-Homoud is recipient to a bachelor’s degree, from King Saud University, in sociology. She also has a master’s of art degree, from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, in communication design, centered in Islamic art
A significant portion of her work is centered on calligraphy. She was taught by the Rasheed Butt, the celebrated Pakistani calligrapher. Al-Homoudhas stated how she is captivated by the intricacies held in the art of calligraphy.
Lulwah Al-Homound is known to be among the most renowned artists involved in works with abstract forms. Her work is focused on discovering the discrete rules of artistic advancement in mathematical structures by the use of Arabic, such that it links the fields of science and arts.
She utilized Arabic letters so as to generate, on paper, intricate abstract patterns by using mixed media and geometric structures.
Lulwah Al-Homound’s work has been displayed in exhibitions around Korea, Paris, China, New York, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Dubai, etc. She also put up a solo exhibition in the United Arab Emirates at the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum.
She recently represented her country, Saudi Arabia, at the AI and Intercultural Dialogue art exhibition. The exhibition took place at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg and commenced on Thursday. It investigates the contribution of AI in modern day art and exhibits work that is an amalgamation of art and technology.
Al-Homound stated how her work, titled: “Al-KayanWalWujud” (Entity and Being), is Islamic art conveyed in contemporary technological structures.
She added how Al-KayanWalWujudis being displayed in a way that will allow the general public to view it in an unconventional manner.
