More than 4.5 billion $ are invested in Chinese AI startups between 2012 and 2017. And last year, Ali Baba also invested nearly 600 million in a facial recognition startup, SenseTime. China is leading in the list of all the countries rushing for AI R&D and implementation across the globe. China is planning to become an industry leader in AI by 2030. Many experts believe that China will overtake the US in AI in the upcoming years. China'sChina's largest surveillance expo was Held in Shenzhen last week,in this expo the major attraction was the emotion recognition system which is being used with surveillance to monitor bus stations,airports ,railway stations for the prediction of criminal activity based on the facial emotions of person from eyes , body language, eye tracking ,crowd analysis and many other factors,this system is the first of its type which uses AI emotion recognition from crime prediction on this scale . These systems have been installed in Xinjiang, a western region in China where around a million population of Muslim minorities are held in camps. Due to this issue, the US has banned 8 AI companies from china from buying US products on the grounds of violation of human rights.
This AI system analyzes the footage and understands the emotions on the basis of facial movements and expressions and then estimating the possibilities of criminal acts and preventing them beforehand. This technology is still in its childhood phase, and many corrections are needed to be made, and an expert says that the mature version of this tech will be released in 3 or 4 years from now. Nowadays, google and apple are also trying their hands in this, but they still are not as good as China. Around more than 1500 companies displayed their products in AI. According to the market experts, the public security industry is going to double fold or triple-fold in the next few years, and there is a very good chance that this technology will fetch a huge number of consumers in the next few years.
