Russian Prime Minister visits the Pacific islands

Russian Prime Minister Mishustin visited the Pacific islands on Monday 26, July 2021. Japan calls these islands as Northern Territories and Russia calls it Kurlis.

These are a row of territorial island which were taken by the Soviet at the end of World War 2, whereas Japan has territorial rights over the island. This dispute has prevented both the countries from signing a peace treaty together.
