The drug shortages and the high prices are already crippling the United States medical and drug industry, and there have been developments that are hurting the industry more in the time when it is In need of help the most. The United States should understand this and do good with the other pharma, but the president has different plans altogether.
The Trump administration has been making some serious changes in the nation, and they were all bearable until they have reached the people and have compromised them on their healthcare needs, which are essential needs. The Trump administration last month reportedly floated the possibility of imposing tariffs on medical products exported from Switzerland to the U.S. because pharmaceuticals appear to be causing a trade imbalance which seems like it is absolutely not because the nation’s industry has already been crumbling due to the high prices of the drugs that have been rising and no hope of slowing down has been seen. An estimated $40 billion in medicines were sent to the U.S., while Swiss imports from the U.S. amounted to about $21 billion which just shows that over 50 percent of the imports were from Swiss pharma and if taxes are imposed and increases this could seriously cripple the United States pharma industry and there would be no escape for the nation from this problem.
SO the United States should seriously consider this before taking any step and then crying over the consequences which will be of no use to people dying from a further shortage of drugs and medicines.
