2019 American Music Awards, held at LA's Microsoft Theater, honored Swift with Artist of the decade award.
Legendary singer-songwriter Carole King presented the Artist of the Year Award to Taylor Swift. King commended Swift for the relatability of her music and the strength of her lyrics. Swift in turn also acknowledged the impact of King’s music on herself and her family.
Swift on receiving the award thanked her fans and referred the award as a celebration of hard work and art over the years and that she cherishes the memories she had with her fans and everyone.
Apart from the decade of the year award in 2019, Swift also received another five competitive awards, including artist of the year.
Amidst the battles she had with playing her songs, she did perform on her songs Love Story and Blank space. She also presented a duet performance with Camila Cabello and Halsey on Shake it off.
