Thailand is planning to establish virtual banks along with its peers Singapore and Malaysia to promote financial technology in an attempt to spur competition and increase access to banking services.
The Bank of Thailand has decided to issue guidelines for banks that are digital by June. The bank might also allow the existing lenders and further applicants to demand licenses.
