The dollar is losing steam against the currency basket

The dollar gave up early advances to trade marginally lower on Friday against a currency index as a still pending tentative US-China trade deal held traders on edge and reduced currency movements in the shortened holiday week.

The dollar index was down 0.12 percent at 98.253, comparing the greenback to six other major currencies. The index rose as high as 98,544 earlier in the session, its highest since Oct. 15. The index was unchang....
