The amendment, according to the Council, would improve worker protection by establishing exposure limits for acrylonitrile and nickel compounds and decreasing current benzene restrictions.
The directive will now provide more protection against reprotoxic compounds, which are chemicals that can interfere with the human reproductive processes. Previously, these chemicals were dealt with under a separate statute.
