In January, tests were conducted on 86 drinking water wells of private properties, by the US army. These properties were the next-door neighbors to the Yakima Training Center. The tests confirmed that 30 wells were serving 44 homes and that exceeded the health advisory levels of the environmental protection agency.
The chemicals that were found in the water are known as per-and-polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
