Digitalization seems to be the drive of the world, and that is also the mantra that has been provided by the Honorable Prime Minister of India to help create a strong digital infrastructure in the country, along with the zeal to develop into the world leaders in data creators and data centers. People these days lack time to read books, and thus platforms like Storytel and others that are responsible for the sale of audiobooks have been on the rise, people want more convenience at their disposal, and they are ready to pay the cost of this technological transition. In an attempt to catch-up on this bus of digitalization and with the improvement of technology in pattern recognition and QR availability, the Botany Department of the PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Sciences has decided to exploit this rapidly growing platform for their own unique purpose.
The students in the campus were seen using their smartphones for purposes other than just being on social platforms or playing games, and this purpose was scanning the QR codes of trees that are hung on them to gather information about the same, this is a unique way where technology has met environment, and such usages need to be encouraged so that people know a lot more about what they are surrounded with and what is their immediate environment.
India has had a rich cultural and medicinal heritage of Ayurveda, which is the organic treatment of living organisms for their ailments, and Sushruta is said to have known about 10,000 species of trees and herbs by heart according to their usage in the treatment of various ailments and discourses. The younger generation needs such innovative ideas to help them identify what is and how to utilize it in the time of dire needs best.
