University of Toronto developing a water quality warning system using tiny water fleas

Researchers at the University of Toronto are developing an early warning system that combines tiny water fleas and a tandem mass spectrometer for water quality and pollution.

Professor Myrna Simpson and postdoctoral fellow Tae-Yong Jeong are developing the technique. For research the wellbeing of common water fleas, better known as Daphnia, the pair uses metabolomics.
