US Federal Judge Cancels Major Oil and Gas Lease Over Concern for the Climate

Last year, the Biden administration arranged the largest oil and gas lease in the country’s history, only days after pledging to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels at an international climate panel in Glasgow, Scotland.

On Thursday, a federal judge ruled that the sale in the Gulf of Mexico was invalidated as the administration had not taken into consideration what it would mean to the world’s climate.
