Use of amendments can reduce phosphorus runoff from nursery pots

Runoff of excess nutrients from crop fields harms rivers and lakes. Nursery pot plants are yet other sources of such runoff.  

Many ornamental plants and tree crops are grown in plant nurseries before being shipped to farmers and nurseries respectively. And even at this stage, fertilizers containing nutrients are being added to them which serves as a source of phosphorus.
