Values and interests in the emerging geopolitics of Asia

In a nutshell, Francis Fukuyama stated that the task of constructing contemporary economic and political frameworks was one of "getting to Denmark." An Asian democrat with a similar teleological bent to Fukuyama could wonder, if their ideals of political-economic paradise are limited to their area, how can we 'get to Taiwan (or Japan or South Korea)?'
