One Russian dairy farm has recently found the source of happiness for cows and hence the reason for better milk production. You will be surprised to know the medium they have been using for the same, it is more tech-oriented. The Russian dairy just wanted to keep their bovine friends happy and took a unique step in that direction. They went ahead by strapping virtual reality headsets to all the cows in that farm. The experiment was done to make them feel healthier and happier. The aim was also to have better milk production. Various Scottish and Dutch findings revealed that environmental conditions play an important role in overall health of these four-legged animals. A healthy cow has a better capacity to produce milk, studies revealed.
Farmers from a farm called Krasnogorsk, worked with consultants, developers and vets for getting VR headsets attached onto cows. They were shown simulations of summer fields. The herd was reported to have reduced levels of anxiety and hence, a pleasant mood. As reported by Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Moscow. A study about milk production will also be conducted. Further study will help revealing the positive effects of good mood on milk production.
Initially, the headset was developed taking reference from a human VR headset. Later, the hardware was molded as per the specifications of cow’s head. The color palette was also tweaked later by the researchers, so that it can cater to cow’s vision.
