French government holds on after ramming through budget despite no-confidence votes

To protest the use of an unique constitutional power to rush the budget measure through the National Assembly without a vote, opposition MPs on Monday forced two votes of no confidence in French President Emmanuel Macron's centrist government, both of which the government narrowly survived.

Two different motions of no confidence had been submitted, one by the socialist Nupes alliance and one by the far-right National Rally party.....
