India: Finance Commission is likely to dismiss a $12 billion proposal to support utilities reduce contamination

India's Finance Commission informed the power ministry that its proposition to grant 835 billion rupees that is US$ 11.6 billion to utilities in incentives to install equipment to check outflows is "financially unviable," a senior level ministry official stated to Reuters on 18th November, Tuesday.

This February, the ministry presented its proposal to the Finance Commission to examine government expenditure.
