The United Kingdom has several people affected by cystic fibrosis condition that has been a significant issue as the disease has no proper treatment, and the available treatment is too expensive for people to afford and get treated.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disease in which thick, sticky mucus builds up in organs, including the digestive system, and, most seriously, it affects the lungs. It is often fatal in early adulthood, or we could say childhood. Vertex, the United States-based Pharmaceutical company that produces the treatment drugs for the fibrosis condition, has agreed to supply the medicine to the NHS, which will be providing the treatment for free for those kids affected with this condition. This revolutionary step by the United Kingdom has garnered world praise. It is a perfect example as to how governments can help cure the diseases of the people in need of treatment but can't afford such high-cost therapies. The deal between the NHS and the pharmaceutical company Vertex has not revealed the prices of the agreement as it is subject to commercial confidentiality. This scheme will treat more than 5000 eligible patients of NHS, and more are expected to follow as the registration for the treatment will popularize.
The United Kingdom has genuinely made a fantastic decision to help the people in need, and this will be followed for various diseases that have high treatments as this has been well received by the medicine sector of the UK.
