For determining environmental compensation of illegal marble mining at Saren Phala and Nichla Phala, Udaipur, Rajasthan, National Green Tribunal (NGT) directed Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) on 26 November 2019 to submit a further action-taken report. The earlier assessment of compensation by the RSPCB was found erroneous by the Tribunal as it ignored the norms laid down by the Central Pollution Control Board and the tribunal. The factors that forms the basis for the calculation of environmental compensation determination are - the value of the mined material, area of mining, the extent of violations and financial capacity of the miner. The earlier report submitted by RSPCB was found to be unsatisfactory by Tribunal as it did not consider these factors.
On 26 November 2019, NGT disposed Ring Road case on encroachment and carrying on of polluting activities on one of its stretch (from Raghuvir Nagar to Punjabi Bagh in Delhi). The South Delhi Municipal Corporation and Delhi Pollution Control Committee submitted the status report stating that environmental compensation assessed, damaged boundary wall repaired and illegal encroachment had been removed.
On the complaint of encroachment by a colonizer on government land and the Saraswati river, AB Road, Bijalpur village and illegal cutting of trees District Magistrate, Indore was directed by NGT on 26 November 2019. The cutting of trees without permission was acknowledged by the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board in its report submission. Also, the colonizer channelized a drain without prior permission from the state irrigation department.
