Latest reports announced a Strategic Energy Dialogue between U.S. and Egypt. The collaboration will enhance a closer private and government sector cooperation on energy between the two nations. Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker and Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla along with U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette have known to have spearheaded the launch. According to news reports, the dialogue between the two nations will focus primarily on energy aspects and on latest technologies, including gas and oil development, in addition to cooperation in the field of electricity. The launch was seen as a consequence to the latest meeting between President El Sisi and President Trump, talks of which were further initiated by U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry. He was responsible for developing bilateral engagements during his trip to Egypt. News sources allege, the latest dialogue between Egypt and the U.S. will help in cooperating on a large number of common interests of the nations, spreading across the energy sector. The project will further also boost projects in clean coal technology, energy trade, bio-economy, carbon capture utilization and storage, renewable energy, energy efficiency, smart grids, green building technologies and energy capacity building. Furthermore, the dialogue will underscore a continued U.S. support for the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) and also initiate Egypt’s role as a regional energy hub. In addition, the private sector of the United States will also benefit from this cooperation with Egypt which will thus further lead to augmenting efforts in energy security.
