Tourists can now deviate from the conventional touristic sites of Japan. They are now being offered a new experience. Old, abandoned mines and oil fields are now open to exploration. These are termed as historical sites and industrial museums. The Tourism Ministry hopes that this new found attraction will help counteract the predicted dip in visitor numbers post 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
