Major currencies dominated Monday's time as investors waited to see if Washington and Beijing might soon sign off on an agreement to end a trade war that was a drag on global economic growth.
A statement from Chinese state news wire Xinhua, which said the two sides had "constructive talks" over the weekend, backed tentative hope for a breakthrough.
